A piece of hard debris got past the filter and jammed the drain pump blades. I extract the water, pull the pump off the sump, remove the jam, and test it with 120V to ensure it still pumps.

The plastic wash impeller sheared off the motor shaft, resulting in zero water pressure. I clean the spray arms first. If pressure is still dead, I have to install a new main circulation pump.

A degraded bottom door sweep, or a split spray arm shooting water directly at the door. I check the wash arm for cracks. If it's fine, I press a new watertight OEM rubber gasket around the tub.

A blown thermal fuse in the top console severed power to the logic board. I trace the line voltage to the door. I replace the blown bi-metal fuse and the wire harness to restore power.

The 120V heating coil at the bottom of the tub blistered and burned out. I measure resistance across the two element nuts under the tub. If it's open, I swap in a new heating element.

A piece of bone or glass is caught in the macerator blade inside the pump. I dismantle the sump assembly from the inside, extract the glass, and check the chopper screen for damage.

The brass water valve is calcified, or the safety float switch is stuck in the "up" position. I make sure the float drops. Then I ohm-test the valve. If it's dead, I swap the housing to get water flowing.

The tiny actuator that pops the soap door open during the cycle burned out. I test if the board is sending 120V to the door. If it is, but the door stays shut, I replace the whole dispenser module.

The microswitch in the latch broke, so the machine thinks the door is open. I realign the tub in the cabinets and replace the plastic latch block at the top of the door.

Sink water is backflowing into the dishwasher because the drain hose isn't looped high enough. I fix the plumbing loop under the sink, extract the old food from the filter, and run a high-heat sanitization.

✓ Fix It: Drain blockages, bad water inlet valves, or broken door latches. Very common and worth fixing.
✕ Replace It: If the plastic or stainless steel inner tub has physically cracked and is leaking water straight through the chassis. You can't patch that.
